I'm absolutely heartbroken right now.

My cat Jessie has had a hideous lump under her chin for a short while and today mum and I took her to the vet's, hoping it wasn't anything too serious.

Well... the vet reckons she has cancer.

The cheapest treatment will cost £252.04 but I'll do whatever it takes to either make Jessie better or make the last few months or so of her life as comfortable as possible.

But god... this was the last thing I wanted to happen to her...

UPDATE: Well, we've got her biopsy results back and it's definitely cancer, and an aggressive form of it at that. There's nothing that can be done. It has been decided that once she starts suffering, (she's not atm, she has painkillers to keep her going for now) she's going to be put down. I can see the reason; I don't want her suffering, especially since that evil tumour is going to keep on growing.

UPDATE2: Well, she did really well for a few weeks following her biopsy - eating like normal, taking her medicine, going on as normal. But as of lately she's not been eating and she's been in pain to the extent that you can't touch her chin without her flinching and she's consistantly meowing as if to try and tell us she's hurting. So...

She's getting put to sleep today in just over an hour's time. I will miss her lots and lots but in the end, I and the rest of my family cannot stand to watch her suffer anymore.

UPDATE3: Well, she's gone, she went yesterday. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. One minute she was alive and well, and merely a few seconds after she was injected, she fell and had gone. I don't know what to feel.. I keep expecting her to wander up to me meowing that she's hungry or when I said farewell to my bf I heard a noise and shot round because I thought I heard her coming to run out the front door like she usually does. I even thought of asking my bf if he wanted to see her today before she went but then I remembered.

I'll miss her but I'm glad she's been relieved of her pain. Hopefully things will start to get better.
